Mama's Fried Chicken - Opelousas

After seeing the sign for Mama's countless times on our way to and from Lafayette, we finally stopped to give it a try and we were not disappointed! The fried pickles were definitely the star of the show perfectly battered and deliciously crispy. Thefried chicken was good, but pretty standard for the area. My daughter got a double cheeseburger and it was juicy and delicious! She chose the fried okra for her side and it was really good as well!

Dined in late probably around 8pm, the service was great the workers who take your order are very friendly. Ordered 2pc dark fried chicken with fried pickles. Chicken was crunchy but there wasnt much flavor or seasoning I could taste. The fried picklesthey seasoned just one side, and put a little too much cajun seasoning on them. Wife ordered a shrimp poboy, decent amount ofshrimp but again lacking flavor and seasoning. Also ordered the funnel cake it was crispy on the outside but soggy towards themiddle. Only ate a little bit of that

Horrible !! Poor customer service. They wanted me to drive up and wait? I dont play that game. So I told them give me my money back. All of sudden food was ?ready?. It was horrible ! Not fried to completion. You can see the onion rings literally had NObreading. Im glad I was just passing through and not local. This is a nasty establishment. I would have drove all the way backand got my money back for everything? but I will let my bank deal with it. Dont let the photo advertising fool you, this placeis ghetto hot mess!

The fish was fried way to soft for my liking but was still good... the shrimp were awesome....but the funnel cake for 1.99 was awesome. If you don't call ahead be prepared to wait oh and the onion rings were real string fried onions ... I will be goingback when I visit the boot again
