We only wanted coffee, but the taller girl with glasses behind the counter made us feel like an inconvenience. It seemed as though she was more eager to be at the parade than to serve customers, which was disappointing. Despite this, we decided to give them a second chance the next day before leaving town. My wife and I stopped by to get sandwiches for the road, but unfortunately, we experienced the same attitude. The taller girl with glasses who handed us our sandwiches appeared to be in a particularly bad mood. The lady with the shaved head and bangs, who we think was Connie, seemed to be either micro-managing or training employees. This might have contributed to the negative atmosphere among the staff. It was clear that her employees were the ones who weren't in a great mood, and that had a negative impact on our experience. This was surprising, especially since everyone else we met in Ontonagon was so friendly.
Cute cafe! Vanilla Iced Latte was delicious! Perfect place to stretch the legs and get some caffeine before hopping back into the car.
Good food and great people. We love this place. Dietary restrictions: When we visited they had dairy free ice cream. Since we will be here all summer, I hope they have it for my wife.
We stopped in twice on our brief trip to Ontonagon because we loved the breakfast sandwiches so much!
Of probably 1,000 places I 've stopped in the last 3 years (I travel for a living) this was probably one of the worst. I HAVE had WORSE service. But I 've rarely seen more indifferent, uncaring, and incompetent in my life. No greeting, no smile, no pleasant conversation. And no coaxing it out. I watched other customers all treated equally. Not 1 single part of my order was correct. There was no getting it correct. I ordered a wheat sandwich and got a sub. I ordered mustard and got mayo. I ordered ice tea four times and was told she 'd check. I was finally told they had tea and ordered a large with NO ice and got nothing with my sandwich. Five minutes later when I could get her attention she grunted unnnh and walked off. Then she came back with 2 ounces of tea and 18 ounces of ice in a 20 ounce cup which cost $4.00+. I watched EVERY other customer dealt with in the same manner Two large sundaes were two small ones. No cherry on the sundae was put on anyway. Nut issues? No problem, we 'll put the nuts on anyway. We can make another one. If you notice it. 1 scoop in a cone for the little guy? Sorry. You get 1 scoop in a dish with no spoon. And on and on..... Why did I stay you might ask? Entertainment. I was relaxed and having a good day. This was fascinating. To see two dull witted uncaring human beings dismantle what could be a really nice business. It looked cute. The food was actually pretty good. My poor experience with customer service stood alone as terrible. But to watch it continue upon one customer after another was sad. And the two employees seemed like they could be nice people? They just DID NOT belong in public service. I would recommend you give them a try when they are busy. If that ever happens. DON 'T expect to get anything resembling what you ordered. Be happy with gutteral grunts or silence from staff. You might find it interesting. I wish them the best. I really do. But they might be a better fit at a weed shop. Food service is definitely not their strong suit. Dietary restrictions: Check your order carefully.
