Cafe Atenea - Ontinyent

It was a holiday and all the other restaurants were booked for lunch or closed. This restaurant right on the plaza, was serving tapas which is what we were looking for. The service was attentive and personable.. The food was fresh and delicious. Family run, the parents in the kitchen and the son waited on us. Just an all around wonderful experience.

Atenea provides a full, inexpensive menu del dia or tasty tapas, both equally as good and rated very highly. The quality of food and attentive service is quite unique for this part of Spain. This is a small family run bar restaurant easily overlooked in the market place of Ontinyent but once found never forgotten. Generous helpings, reasonable quality wine included in the three course menu and a starter salad is often included. Lots of care over presentation. The tapas is clearly fresh every day and the cost is on a par with or lower than other tapas restaurants but the service is very much better than most including up market restaurants in Ontinyent. The rice specialities are offered most days and should be tried as they are outstanding and traditional. In summary, one of the best lunch venues in the area, Very friendly, first rate. Easy parking except on market day. English spoken by the owners son.

La primera tapa que nos sirvieron (surtido de quesos) ya nos llenó, lugar impresionante, calidad precio recomendable. Los camareros super atentos y amables.

En general todo bien pero los precios se les ha subido a la cabeza.
