My first time to eat here! My daughters bday and where she wanted to go.
Happened in on this amazing BBQ joint! The owner is amazing and quite possibly the nicest restaurant owner I've ever met! I had a baked potato with smoked
After finishing my meal at this establishment, it was not my intention to savage the place in a review. Yet, as I sit here interminably atop "the throne," every time I burp I am reminded of this vile taste, so I've changed my mind. As a certified master barbecue judge I have eaten my fair share. But one does not always feel like eating barbecue. Sometimes a good burger the trick. Plus, I've noticed that the venerable cheeseburger is always a good barometer of a barbecue stand; how successful they are with something simple like a good burger. And so it was that I decided to go with an intriguingly named menu item: the Smokeout Burger. I have smoked my fair share of burgers over the years, and while it's not easy to do, the rewards when it is done right are well worth the effort. This burger is the opposite of that. To begin with, there is not a hint of smoke on it. Unfortunately, there is no seasoning either. Matter of fact, the overwhelming flavor of this burger, is the same that came with those "hamburgers" that were served to us in the school cafeteria. So I covered it and salt and pepper, doused it in the house barbecue sauce, and choked it down. If I had it to do over again... The original plan had been to return to try the barbecue at a later date. That now seems highly unlikely. A pitmaster who can't properly cook something as pedestrian as a burger, I do not trust with a difficult piece of meat such as a brisket. Bonus points for the selection of local beers. Bonus point for the fresh cut fries…bonus point taken away for not cutting the bad spots off the potatoes before cutting them up to fry. Pricewise -- you can get a lunch burger here for not much more than it would cost for a combo at a fast food joint. Which may be part of the problem. I'd gladly pay another $5 for good meat, cooked with care along with some attention to detail. Bottom line: I cannot recommend it in good conscience.
