Told my friends and I we were off brand for the hotel and asked us to move from the pool to the back of the motel when we were the only guests there. I’ve had positive experiences in the past at this motel so was disappointed by the blatantly exclusionary and discriminatory attitude of the staff. It was beyond insulting and quite unprofessional. I will never go back and will never recommend to family and friends visiting again. The room was not cheap and to be treated so poorly was unacceptable. Hospitable it was not. There are many better options in Ojai if you’re looking for a room.
This place is absolute magic. This old motel has been updated in the most thoughtful way. The rooms are quaint, the premise is pristine, and the small touches make you feel at home. Though “trendy,” it truly has everything you need, and nothin’ you don’t. I spent a lovely evening using the shared sauna and enjoying the communal lawn area. Plus, the showers in the rooms are ~amazing~.My only flag is that the rooms are right off a busy road and the walls between rooms are very thin! It can be a bit loud for sleeping.
Ojai Rancho Inn offers a unique hospitalable experience that I've been trying to recreate since visiting last September for my wife's birthday. The room was rustic and cozy. Jacuzzi is a must especially if you're looking for a night in the room instead of out and about town. Either way, the proximity to town is perfect. You need to experience the welcoming community within and around this hotel to know why this is a hotel worth coming back!
The room is a bit overpriced in my opinion for what it offers. The walls are very thin and I could hear the family next door talking and thumping around. The hot tub in the room made the room better than average, and the bed was comfortable. They offer a snack basket full of expensive locally sourced treats to eat and sample with high price tags. The lighting is dark. The furnishings are retro chic sort of.The staff were helpful and very nice.I did not try the bar, or go into the lobby for coffee.
There was very little privacy, as the front window curtains had to remain drawn to keep people from seeing in—especially important with three builders walking back and forth outside all day. Additionally, the lighting in the room was poor, leaving me feeling like I was sitting in the dark most of the time. The only amenities provided were soap, shampoo, and conditioner. There was a basket of items for sale in the room, but the prices were outrageous. Not even a simple tea bag was included in a room that cost $300 a night? Overall, I expected much more for my stay.
