Unusual decisions, but delicious and great to try. we came back after a few years. it was not a simple day to day, very busy with a few Christmas dinners. we came without reservation, but could get a table after about 15 minutes. we have made a mistake...we ordered 2 large portions (1 Thai rice with pineapple and 1 Malaysian noodles with hull and garnel). no need, because one is almost enough for 2. our two decisions really made good. service was a bit chaotic, but as I said it was very busy, and only the kitchen and the 2 people who treat the room had some challenges regarding the time prices are fairly fair for the quality...and the size of the portions! but it was a quite good experience overall, and mensa certainly deserves a visit.
While I was celebrating from earth to oireas in mensa with my family ate. the foos was incredible, so pure cooking, noble and aromen beautiful. we asked the manager to recommend 5 dishes, appetizers and wein to share and it was an excellent decision. so much that we decided to go back to the next night to celebrate my friends birthday. in the second night they pulled out all the stops, the atmosphere, service, welcome and of course eating was top class. I can recommend mensa restaurant enough! jack
The place is great! nice a cozi, and also, I saw that now they accept multibanco hexe was one of the themes that appear in other reviews when they are around the opposite, then they surely give it! and don't forget to order the tomatensuppet, their impeccable!
We chose Mensa to try something new, and to celebrate my birthday, and we were extremely happy with the entire experience. I sought an interesting meal, featuring fresh fish and presented with unique flavors, and I found Mensa's approach, fusing tastes of Japanese and Korean...cuisine with those of Portugal to be savory and spot on. The dining room is complemented with outdoor seating; we sat inside and found it quite comfortable. We started with a couvert of bread and compound butters, and then shared a travessa of tuna in a teriyaki sauce and coated with natural and black sesame seeds. Sides of rice with dried fruits and nuts, and sauteed napa cabbage complemented the tuna with their textures and flavors. Our pairing of a Portuguese Chardonnay from Dão suited the meal better than the Sauvignon Blanc we had started with as an aperitif--not the wine's fault, though! The service was excellent throughout, and our meal capped with a gratis shot of aguardente to celebrate my day.
