Casa Gallega - Oeiras

We came in with a large group mixed with adults and children and they accommodated us very well. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We live in Portugal near the ocean but yet my husband said his seafood here was probably the best fish dish he has ever had !

Our hotel recommended this restaurant to us. It was a 30 minute ride and we expected great things. But sadly it was a huge disappointment. Starters are brought out on arrival in what we thought were complimentary nibbles/amuse bouche, but were ultimately charged for, along with dry bread with no butter or oil.. Very underhand as we would have preferred to chose our own starters! Very unclear pricing on most seafood options (even after asking for help, it was still unclear). My lobster curry was pleasant enough but my friend’s cod dish was not good and most remained on the plate when cleared. She said when asked, that it was too salty, and the waitress said that was what cod was like and maybe my friend wasn’t used to it! She said on removing the plate and she could see it wasn’t to our expectations, but there was no removal on the bill or even token gesture. We asked for wine advice and what was produced was very mediocre and not a good choice at all. Puddings were average. Very expensive for what we had. Would not recommend.

Came across Casa Galega by chance or our way back to Lisbon, the food was amazing and the service vary friendly and helpful. We will be back on our next visit to Portugal, hopefully with a bit more time so we can enjoy the full experience.

Très belle découverte. À refaire sans aucun doute pour goûter la paella. Bela descoberta. Vamos lá voltar seguramente para provar a paella.
