Rosie's - Ocean Gate

I visited Rosie's for the first time and it certainly met my expectations. The food was outstanding, and the service was both efficient and refreshing. I will definitely be returning!

For our main courses, we tried the short ribs with baby asparagus and mashed potatoes, as well as penne bolognese. The short ribs were incredibly flavorful, the asparagus was perfectly al dente, and the mashed potatoes were so light and fluffy, they melted in your mouth. The penne bolognese, which included pieces of short rib, was equally tasty. For dessert, since it was my birthday, the staff surprised me by coming out to sing "Happy Birthday" with a big sparkler on top of my pignoli cake served with vanilla ice cream. The cake was delightful, although I had hoped to try the homemade tiramisu, which unfortunately was sold out—hopefully next time! We also had the key lime pie, which was incredibly fresh and delicious. To cap off the perfect evening, I enjoyed an espresso with sambuca. Everything was absolutely delicious! We left as two very satisfied diners and can’t wait to return.

As for the food, it was mainly overcooked and heavily garnished, which overshadowed the quality of the main ingredients. The meat was grainy and had an excessive amount of fat, making it difficult to enjoy a bite without having to push some of it aside. On a positive note, the dessert was quite good. However, considering this restaurant is located in Ocean Gate, NJ, the prices were more in line with those in Manhattan. Our bill for two appetizers, two main courses, two desserts, and two cocktails came to $200, including the tip. Overall, I won’t be returning.

Overall experience was great. First time here. Service was fantastic they really went above and beyond. Celebrated a birthday and the staff was so kind. Salmon was delicious! The seasonal salad was disappointing. Overly dressed and I didn’t realize it had bacon chunks (fatty bacon) the dressing tased very similar to Big Mac sauce and it just wasn’t something I would order again. Parking is tight! Ended up parking on a side street. But overall beautiful place. Will return
