I checked into the hotel late at night as my flights from the US were delayed and since hotel is staffed 24 hours a day, check-in was a breeze and they took me right to my room. The bellman even explained the various features of the room to me, e.g., the safe, WiFi, etc. This was just an example of the great service the hotel provides. The room has a refrigerator, free-WiFI, a coffee machine, and they provide toiletries, and two bottles of water/day. Breakfast is available as either a cold or hot buffer for approximately $12 or $17.50. I opted for the cold buffet which offered a variety of breads, juice, coffee, cereal, salmon, yogurt and cheeses. The hotel is a converted convent and has an outdoor pool and small gym. The grounds are gorgeous. They also provide a chocolate/day. However, it should be noted that in Mexico, the used toilet paper is thrown in the garbage and not the toilet, since the plumbing systems are not that good.
We stayed in this hotel almost 30 years ago on our first trip to Oaxaca and stopped for a quiet lunch. The staff seemed more interested in serving a large group of people and only graced us with their presence when not busy. We shared a roasted beet salad with goat cheese and a cheese board. The beet salad was quite good with the whole beets sliced and layered with the goat cheese and topped with a peanut and balsamic dressing, 180 peseos. The cheese board was enough for 3 or 4 persons and with a nice variety of local and imported cheese, 300 pesos. Our opinion is that this beautiful establishment has the kitchen which produces quality but the service needs to be greatly improved.
This is a wonderful old monastery that is converted into a hotel. When you visit Oaxaca in Mexico, this is a great place to stay. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. WiFi is good. The beds are huge and comfortable. Breakfast is abundant with fruit, juices and freshly cooked options. While we stayed our breakfast, live Mexican guitarists were accompanied who set an incredible atmosphere. There is also an excellent restaurant for a perfect evening meal.
See submitted review; no point in repeating it. REstaurant setting gorgeous, food and food service disappointing, and expensive.
