The Stout Monk - Oakville

We used to visit often and take advantage of the half price apps on Tuesday's It had been ages since we visited and we decided to return. A few things were less awesome this time than in the past:* bruschetta, while artfully presented had a strong taste of orange or a sweet spice that was unpalatable to everyone at the table. The portions were much smaller* there were 8 guests who were badly overserved and scream singing karaoke while being served more alcohol - heard of Smart Serve?* the music playlist was only Michael Jackson with repeat songs. It was toooooo much MJ. Literally no other artists. Like a CD on random The tortilla flutes are still amazing. Spud skins have bbq sauce under the cheese and bacon. The service was decent. Brickworks Cider on tap has replaced Sommerby. Not a bad switch!

I frequent the Stout Monk regularly and I'm never disappointed. They have a wide selection of beers and a kitchen that is much better than the usual pub kitchen. The daily specials are listed on a blackboard near the bar and it's worth a look before you order. Service is usually professional and friendly, but on occasion the staff tend to spend their time chatting with the regulars while the rest of us wait for them to finish their conversation. Overall, this is a very comfortable place with top notch food.

If fish and chips are your Friday favorite. Enjoyable and wallet friendly dinner. Add a glass of wine with or a beer. Sticky toffee pudding for desert. Great couples night out.

This is a good place to meet and share with friends, they have a good selection of beers on tap and the appetizers are good, we got a massive tray of Nachos, very well loaded and large wings. The staff is warm and gentle; maybe the place is underrated, few people for a Friday. It was good to be there, repeatable.
