Umami Burger - Oakland

Really great spot. We stopped here before a show at The Fox.... the burgers were outstanding, and the Load ‘Em fries, forgetaboutit! We’ll be back!

Our food never arrived! After about 45 minutes we were informed that the chef quit and the manager was no where to be found. I felt so bad for the wait staff and bartender, they basically told customers that their food would never arrive so all of the customers in the packed restaurant left. My husband and I were grabbing a bite before a show across the street, needless to say we went to the show hungry. Get your act together and have a plan B for situations like this! I’ll never dine at any Umami again.

The drinks came out after eating and that was after we had asked twice. it was not busy, so there was no excuse for the delay. also I didn't like our server trying to sell my girlfriend on a margarita that she insisted she didn't want. I was not at this place in over 5 years and I'm not sure I'm going back.

Service was terrible. Servers and manager didn’t seem to care. In looking at the reviews online this seems to be the norm. Corporate should be forced to suffer through this experience. Seems like they are just paying lip service in responding to reviews. I’m not sure how they stay in business.

The server was friendly and he never made us hurry after eating, so we enjoyed hanging out in there.
