Southie - Oakland

I decided to dine here alone after waiting a long time at the Wood Tavern next door. I believe my experience in Southie was even better than what I would have had at Wood. The staff was incredibly friendly, and my food was delicious. The atmosphere was vibrant yet still professional. I can't recommend dining in Southie enough!

I can't emphasize enough how wonderful this restaurant is. The service is outstanding, and the food is fantastic! My colleagues and I often visit during our lunch breaks, and it's one of the few places where we can reliably expect quick service. I'm so glad this place is still thriving!

The carnitas and sweet tacos found excellent. the fishtacos lacked something, but also fresh ingredients. my child had a breakfast sandwich, also excellent. they serve breakfast until 2 on the afternoon for all and at night. friendly service. the prices were very reasonable. not a large space, so seating are a little limited.

Freshly made tortillas! we have the cheese and the steak quesadilla and the part was big enough to share. the staff was friendly and the salsa was also freshly made! we go back.

One word: Leopoldo. Leopoldo is an amazing host, that made my experience at Southie special. You can tell he loves his job and can friendly, gently entertain and take care of his guests. He also allowed us to stay late and gave great recommendations on food and drink. Now, the rest: the food is excellent, freshly prepared in front of your eyes. I had the liver pate crostino and the tuna one, then a ragout pasta dish and, to conclude, a banana-chocolate cake. All was delicious but definitely the pate crostino and the ragout pasta stood out. The ambiance is simple yet refined, well curated. Mostly high tables and bar seating, this place is perfect for a friendly catch up, solo dining or a date. The menu is tiny, but you can tell they make few things for each category (crostini, salads, mains) but very well and extremely fresh. The wine is on tap and, although limited, the selection is very enjoyable! I wouldn't honestly change anything and I can hands down say this is a little hidden gem!
