There was a vegan stand with a variety of options, including falafel sandwiches, salads, hummus plates, and soups in the winter. I highly recommend checking out this stand. Another great stand was the Indian food stand from Monterey, CA, which sold vegan naan wraps with options like spinach, mixed vegetables, and eggplant. The price was a bit high at $7.50, but the fresh naan was incredibly delicious. There was always a long line there. They also offered vegan curry bowls that I had never tried before. Additionally, there was the Big Harvest Bread Company selling delicious, freshly made bread. Next to the Mediterranean stand and the tamal stand, there were two guys selling Afghan breads and pies. They had Bolani bread filled with pumpkin, potato, or spinach. And let's not forget about the really good baklava that was available there. Overall, it was an incredible market with a fantastic selection of food.
I find this restaurant to be friendlier than the Lake Merritt market, despite its smaller size. It still has everything I need as well.
I really enjoy coming to this restaurant, especially for the dates. The honey dates are delicious, and they are sourced from the same vendor who sells them at the Civic Center farmers market. They also offer some great deals on corn. The produce is excellent, although I wish they had cilantro more often. Additionally, there is a tamale truck that sells two varieties of vegan tamales - veggie and mushroom. I have only tried the veggie tamale so far, and it was really good.
I absolutely loved having lunch at this place on Fridays! I usually bring my own lunch, but Fridays are an exception because of the wide variety of options available. There is a stand that offers vegan tamales, as well as a vegan Mediterranean stand that serves falafel sandwiches, salads, hummus plates, and soups. I highly recommend trying their food. Another standout is the Indian food stand from Monterey, CA which sells different vegan naan wraps such as spinach, mixed veggie, and eggplant. The wraps cost $7.50 each, which I thought was a bit expensive, but the fresh-made naan is delicious. There is always a long line at this stand. They also have vegan curry bowls available, which I have yet to try. Additionally, the Great Harvest Bread Company, known for their delicious fresh breads, is also present at the market. Next to the Mediterranean booth and tamale stand, there are two guys selling Afghan breads and dips, including bolani bread stuffed with pumpkin, potato, or spinach. Their baklava is also really good. Overall, this farmers market is fantastic!
Even though it's smaller, I find it to be more welcoming than Merritter Lake. It still has everything I could want.
