We ordered butter chicken, lamb tikka masala, vegetable biryani, and some naan. The highlight for me was the soft naan with lamb tikka masala - the sauce was amazing. I would have been happy without the meat because the sauce was so good. The vegetable biryani was also delicious. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service and will definitely be returning.
This was my first visit to this restaurant and I was greeted by the friendly and kind owner. The restaurant is spacious but not overly fancy, and the food is top-notch with flavorful dishes. We tried the Cheese Naan, Goat Biryani, Pepper Chicken, and Lamb Seekh Kebab, all of which were delicious and freshly prepared. I will definitely be returning in the future.
I give this restaurant 4.5 stars. The food was excellent, but the owner took a little time to warm up to us. We visited on a federal holiday evening, so parking was easy to find (street parking only). We were seated right away, and it was our first time at the restaurant. We asked for recommendations since we were visiting from out of town, and the owner bluntly told us to "read the menu!" We ended up ordering the goat and chicken biryanis, prawn karahi, garlic naan, and tea to finish off the meal. They warned us that the food would take some time, but it actually came out quicker than expected. The biryanis were delicious - perfectly spiced, with colorful rice and well-cooked meat. The homemade flavor was a nice touch. The prawn karahi was a bit oily for my taste, but the flavor and spice were on point. I would recommend trying the chicken or goat/lamb instead of prawns for the karahi. With the garlic naan, the karahi was very tasty. The tea was alright, but I have a specific taste in tea that very few people can replicate. The portions were generous and lasted us for two meals. Overall, I was very satisfied with the food, despite the oil in the karahi. The owner warmed up to us as the meal went on, and we left on good terms. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Oakland.
The food is good, you can tell that love is put into it. It is tasty as well! The family that works there is very kind; I will be back.
I absolutely love the food here! The cheese naan, biryani are the best in town. Whenever I am having a bad day, this food cheers me up. The flavor is consistent, seasoned properly and the meat is tender. I am glad I found them after they moved from the 13th st location. This is definitely a most try if you want a delicious meal in downtown Oakland!!!
