Agave Uptown - Oakland

Went early on a Thursday, made a reservation but didn't need one. We split the seabass ceviche, which was great and a sizeable portion. Very fresh, including fresh house-made chips. The chicken mole was moist, and also just enough to split for two with the appetizer. The mole sauce was a little sweet for my taste, but the beans and rice were good. The tortillas were just ok. I would've appreciated if it came with a vegetable, beyond the single large decorative slice of beet, which was good. Maybe more beet next time? We both had the tamarind mocktail, which I found too sweet and kind of bland? Not enough tamarind. Service was really attentive and yet unintrusive, just perfect. Would definitely go back for the ceviche. Ambiance was very quiet, which was wonderful so I could talk with my friend and not be too distracted by background music or other customers.

Great place after work for happy hour or a quick meeting

Excellent restaurant!!!! I was impressed by the food, service and atmosphere, very clean and all the staff very attentive... we enjoyed the harmony and we will surely return again. 100% Recommended???

The return to this restaurant was lovely. We hadn 't been in a while, and am now wondering WHY since we had a lovely time. We were seated right away, told the special for the evening and then given time to make our selections. Drinks were delivered while we waiting along with the chips and guacamole we had ordered. Tasty!!! Each of us had a different main course, and they were all enjoyed. It was nice that the kitchen also allowed us to tweak our orders to fit in with our dietary needs. The recommendations on drinks was also perfect! The staff was also very flexible when we asked to move due to a lively group at the table next to us. We wanted to be able to focus on our conversations.

Expensive but the cocktails were nice and staff adorable. the place looks fantastic
