My boyfriend and I went there for lunch today. What a great little find! The menu has burgers, sandwiches and tacos. I ordered the club with a side salad. My boyfriend a burger. Both were great!!! The spread they use on the club made it very different than any other club I've had before. We will be back closer to dinner when we can walk over and enjoy a beer with our meal!
Sad that the previous owner didn't work out as it was far more inviting (yet had bad service). Now this place is just a whatever! Lacks in all dimensions. Too bad Oak View can't have a fine establishment to eat. Oak View suffers big time in good food. Why someone hasn't grasped the fact that this is ENTRANCE to Ojai so to STAND OUT IN GOODNESS would be WISE!
The upside to this place is the location...if you are in Oak View...or passing through! Goggles don't necessarily means service!
After backpacking in the Sespe Wilderness for 3 days and eating terrible food, this place hits the spot. Top of the Hill has only been opened for about two months. It seems to be a local hangout as the waitress knows most of the patrons. The interior is on the small side. There is a bar area. three wooden round tables, digital jukebox, and a pool table near the entrance. Outside seating is available as well. There is bottled beer available, but they're still working on getting their hard liquor license. Happy Hour is from 4-7. The bf and I ordered the same thing, because we're boring like that. We ordered the burger with avocados and bacon. I ordered mine medium and he ordered his medium well, although they both looked to be cooked about the same. Anyway, for $7.99, you get a burger and a side dish. For the side, we got the coleslaw and fresh fruit. The burger was very big and had ample avocados and bacon...mmmm... For a burger that size, it's a wonder I didn't make a mess. The fresh fruit included honeydew melons, cantaloup, and grapes. I'm not a big fan of coleslaw, but the one they serve is very good. It's not as creamy as the ones I'm used to and there was a hint of sweetness to it. We had 2 bottles of their 805 beer which were $3.75 each. They were very light tasting, sort of like drinking beer flavored water. I also asked for water assuming that it would come in a glass and be free, but it turns out that it's bottled water for $1. All in all, our experience there was pleasant. The waitress was friendly enough and the food enjoyable. I'd go back again next time I'm in the Ojai area.
