La Chulada Market - Novato

This was my first visit here, and was influenced by reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp. I was in Pinole for a business meeting. I 'm always looking for a great burrito! So I invited a friend from Santa Rosa to drive down and join me for dinner. We arrived at 6:30pm on Monday, December 27, 2021. I chose a pollo asado Macho burrito, and the waiter asked specifically if I wanted everything on it. Of course! Based on the menu description, I was expecting to find a large flour tortilla filled with meat, rice, beans, guacamole, and cheese. The meat was plentiful, as was the rice, but there was only a small amount of beans in comparison to meat and rice. The cheese was almost nonexistent I didn 't really find any until nearly 90% finished, and I couldn 't distinguish any guacamole at all. The sauce over the top of the burrito was nondescript and had very little flavor, but the other toppings were fine. I think the real disappointment was that the burrito filling was lukewarm rather than hot. I know the food will cool as I eat, but it shouldn 't go from just past warm to room temperature in 20 minutes. My friend had a Torta Cubana, which looked pretty good, but he had the same reaction . . . the sandwich and his fries were just warm when served. It 's possible that our food sat too long on the serving line after being plated. Any restaurant can have a subpar night, and perhaps this was it. Next time I 'm in the area, I 'll give it another try . . . maybe have a combination plate.
