Golden Fleece - Nottingham

I reserved a double room at an Airbnb for the night with my partner, both of us being vegan. We were excited to check out the city. Unfortunately, the room we were given was extremely dirty and dusty, with a piece of cardboard covering a broken window. The bed was uncomfortable, with no mattress protector and a missing light bulb in the bedside lamp. We decided to leave and informed the bar staff, who were apologetic and promised a refund. They mentioned that this was not the room we had booked initially. However, when we contacted the host Marc, he insisted that we should have waited for a deep clean and refused to acknowledge that the room did not match the advertisement. Despite mentioning that they would no longer be offering rooms, it was disappointing to witness such a lack of accountability. I will not be supporting this business any further due to their inadequate response. I advise against staying there. The low price reflects the poor quality and the lack of responsibility for their mistakes.

Oh my goodness! Emily exceeded all my expectations at this pub. It was the best experience I have ever had at a pub. I brought my date here and Emily set up the perfect ambiance with candles. I am so grateful for her and believe she deserves a raise or promotion. Thank you, Emily.

Though the building and rooms say trad boozer, the Golden Fleece feels a bit different. The aesthetic is appealing: brick and wooden details, colourful signs, a mural of Snoopy in his pilot's helmet, dashes of a Caribbean flavour. All clean and dapper. I just had a coffee at first. You don't always get a good one in a bar; but my Americano was properly hot and had its own unusual, pleasantly bitter tang. The milk came separately, and it took all of it to whiten this dark brew. The young bartender agreed with me that coffee should be hot, which is the way she likes it herself. Truth is, too many places serve it luke. I liked the ambience of the place. (Someone was dancing, even in mid afternoon. So then I had a pint of Mad Sheep, their house lager. The stylish bartender was smart, friendly, chatty--I'm guessing a student. Did the Fleece proud, anyway. Looks like they do a big menu here--brunch till 3, and meals till late. Will deffo be back next time I'm in Nottingham.

This pub menu is solely vegan food and we thought it was extremely poor quality using simulated style beef in the doner- what's wrong with using fresh vegetables?! You can do wonderful meals with aubergines and peppers! Also food very poorly presented and half cold when it got to the table.

Great pub, lovely friendly staff and the food by Prickly Pear was amazing! We had tofu 'fish ' and chips and the plant based Caesar salad and both were the best we 've ever eaten. We couldn 't sample the beer this time as we were driving home but hoping to make a return visit to remedy that!
