Trattoria Del Carmine - NOTO

This place looked pretty good based on previous reviews, however it was very poor indeed. The menu has all of the typical Sicilian dishes from the region. Although I suspect they are prepared freshly, as I heard the microwave beeping from the kitchen. The dishes we ordered were not as expected, over cooked and lacking flavour and freshness. Overall the food is mediocre and not so inspiring. I noticed another table had the same experience and sent back one of their entrees. We had a wonderful server who despite not speaking English managed to bring us our dishes. What was most disturbing from the evening was the older lady wearing the hat. (Perhaps she is the owner or the manager? She spent a lot of time topping up her own drink rather than tending to the customers anyway. When we asked to pay she left the room and had to be called back by a colleague. She barely looked us in the eye as she sat in front of the computer and continued to watch videos on her smartphone. Very rude indeed. Spending more time with the clientele is a better way to spend one’s time. Saying this, the other staff are very good and helpful. Just this rude behaviour by the older lady tarnished the evening, and the quality (or lack thereof of the food. In conclusion, avoid this restaurant there are others nearby.

This indoor only restaurant serves fantastic local dishes (we went twice during our stay and this is complimented by really honest, friendly service (hat tip to Emi here beautiful fish (spade and tuna , amazing caponata and parmigiana -my favourite was the pork fillet in Nerod’Avola. Highly recommended!

This felt like a very authentic place. The dishes were lovely and the staff were also really great. The food was delicious and you could tell it is all home made. It was a very relaxed atmosphere- perfect with a toddler and a baby! Thank you so much : ! Highly recommend and the portions were massive.
