Indian cuisine is one of my favorite. I've been to a lot of places and this one is really good. Comes really close to the food you get in India. Great food, great taste. Worth going there!
After staying in the area for years I popped in here for a take-away a while ago. The wait was a little long but that's pretty standard for Indian food and I think you can call ahead to order a take-away.<br/ <br/ I had the Aloo matar Gobi and it was great- hot as I had requested yet all the delicious flavours from the curry sauce still came through. We had garlic, and perhawari naan bread- both were great the garlic naan especially. Their bean bunny chow was also quite tasty.
I'm so glad we decided to try Satkar as we were originally a little off put by the outside appearance- don't be! Inside it is warm and inviting with friendly service and delicious food. The samosas were lovely; the pastry isn't the usual kind but rather a kind of pie crust-type pastry. My chicken tikka masala with garlic naan was perfectly spicy and a generous portion. My mom's half tandoori chicken was a bit dry but also very tasty. The food arrived quickly and our waitress was really sweet. Will definitely be back again soon!
Satkar was born when management took over the old, previously unsuccessful restaurant. They managed to do something special. They transformed this previously boring space into something incredible, in its own right at least. <br/ <br/ The best thing about Satkar is the incredible quality of the food, which is married with deep succulent flavours and tastes. I usually go for the butter chicken or the chicken tikka masala. Each time I try and only eat half the serving, but unfortunately my self control very rarely prevails and I end up eating everything in front of me. The Naan is always spectacular. The different between getting take aways or eating there usually rests on how fresh you want the naan to be. And when eating in, ordering more food is always just way to easy. <br/ <br/ If you are ever in the mood for Indian, you could not go wrong with Satkar, in fact this could be the best Indian restaurant in Johannesburg
