Disgusting to the extreme. I order the lamb Gyros and it was absolutely the worst food I have been served, and I'm 65. Firstly a Gyros is a blend of ground meats typically beef and lamb and it is compressed and cooked as a large cylinder of meat over a flame or element and once done is thinly sliced and served in a pita with Taziki and veggies. This one was chunks and strips of lamb which was almost all grizzle and fat, very, very little meat, and was totally inedible other than the pita, taziki and veggie which was irrelevant at this point. Unfortunately I was 20 minutes away when I opened and attempted to eat it and due to a time constraint I couldn't return it and threw almost all of it out since no real meat could be found. I have eaten at Jacks in Lakefield and not been disappointed but this one in Norwood served me an inedible meal that was absolutely disgusting that no self respecting restaurant would serve. I am certain they were aware of the poor quality but put it out there anyways. Shame on them. I go back and forth from Ottawa often and finally decided to try it and I can say I was thoroughly disgusted and disappointed by what that gave me. I believe that any restaurant that allows food like that to be served is either on the decline or has lost any desire to maintain quality hoping to snag unsuspecting passerby's. In either case it is a failing scenario. Shame on you for allowing that meal to leave your kitchen and by handed to a customer. I would like the owner to respond and try to tell me why this was served. This really left a bad taste in my mouth literally. P.S. The fries were not very good tasted like old oil was used.
Service is quick and friendly most of the time. Food is ok, rather overpriced for the quality that you get. Went for a meal with my family, mine was still frozen in the centre. By the time they got mine reheated (not even a new meal) my family was finished eating. I decided to not eat and we asked for the bill.... my meal was still charged even though I sent it back for not being cooked and told them my family was finished eating so not bother with mine anymore. They finally removed the charge after arguing with us. We have been back a few times, it's about all there is in Norwood.
Fish and chips very good and the rice pudding again very very nice. The service is excellent as well as the location.
As you leave, what I have grown up to know as, civilization your familiar food options (and those with decent Yelp reviews) become few and far between. You find yourself in this Twilight Zone of unfamiliar territory known as real life. A real life that requires you do what people have been doing for hundreds of years... ask a real local person where around here is good to eat! I found myself in this position last week as I trekked into the abyss. Coming upon this rather unassuming spot in Norwood (west of Peterborough and east of Marmora) I didn 't think much of it. from the outside and their signage I could tell that they served; Moosehead beer, chicken, fish and ribs. I was hungry so that made the decision of I wonder what I could eat here way easier! And I did just that! Much like the area, the inside was quaint and cottagy but not in a Canadiana tacky why, more of a modern feel to a cottage with a cooler vibe but packed with locals dining hard! After a quick peruse of the menu the decision to try a little bit of a few things was easier and I went with the Halibut and 1/4 chicken meal. This came a choice of potatoes and a choice of sides (coleslaw or beans). I went with the coleslaw and french fries. And i paired that with mooseheads trendy cousin beer cracked canoe! You gotta love these small places, because they know that they gotta deliver the goods and they did. The chicken was moist, sauced properly and fall off the bone tender. The fish was light fluffy and crispy but not over battered. The coleslaw was creamy and just perfect, while the fries were in short supply (which I was actually grateful for) but were crispy and went perfect with malt vinegar and salt. Between that meal and the beer the total bill was around $20 tip, so fairly reasonable. If you 're in the area definitely make a stop here Jack 's isn 't jerking you around it 's good old fashioned eats prepared right! Eatcrest Out
