The Cellar House - Norwich

We arrived and were told there would be a 30-40 min wait for food because it was busy. We decided to stay and have a drink while we waited. Approaching nearly an hour, we asked where the food was to be told that the order hadn’t been placed. A short apology, no offer of a discount or drinks on the house. Overall, a really terrible experience (and the wine wasn’t great either). Wouldn’t go back.

The Cellar House used to be one of our go to local pubs. Since changing hands we’ve found it really lacking in terms of atmosphere and service. Drinks and food are now very expensive too the sort of prices I’m used to in London but service is no longer friendly and personable to warrant this. We tried visiting at different times to really give the place a chance, but each time we’ve left feeling like an inconvenience. On our final visit one quiet lunch time we were served by a guy who barely looked up at us, gave us the wrong drink, and then we had to ask for napkins to wipe our own table as none of them had been cleared. We paid over £10 for two soft drinks and a packet of crisps for the privilege. All a real shame as we used to love coming here.

Great stuff yesterday well impressed. One pork one beef. Sides of cauliflower cheese and pork and fig stuffing. Wow it was good. What was strange. Not shown the specials board and not asked which table we would like to be sat at. Subsequent diners were all asked. Hey ho. Minor issues. Had a drink in the new garden after and a lot of work has been done. Looks brilliant. Wife can't wait to return and neither can I. Could become our new favourite quite easily.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly service, accommodating, and delicious food!

As a family of four we came on a Saturday night, it was relatively quiet given the football. Overall for the prices this place is poor. Two beef tacos for £16 is a joke and the oily melanzane parmigiana was really disappointing. Our server completely mis ordered one desert and seemed ill at ease with the wine menu. On a positive note the cheese was excellent and the sausage and mash special was very good. Maybe these are just teething problems but i would leave it to bed down before returning.
