The Riverside Tea Rooms

A great stop on the way to and from Newcastle,the service is excellent as is their keich and scones and cakes. Instead of using the A69 busy road take a leisurely drive on the Roman road and make a stopover here you will not be disappointed.

We stopped here by chance as we really wanted to use the loo on our way to see Hadrian’s wall. The quiches on display looked amazing so we decided to stop for lunch. So glad we did. We had warmed quiche with salad, chicken and chorizo salad and cheddar savoury. Everything tasted fresh, home made and most importantly delicious. Plus the service was very friendly. The cakes looked good but we had no space left so we took some away.

Found this little cafe on the way to Hadrians wall. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Food was good and had decent sized portions. Would recommend for anyone on readying themselves for a walk on the wall.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The food we enjoyed was delicious (vegetable salad, baked potatoes, and beautiful cakes) and the service was excellent.

This restaurant was a beautiful setting for lunch. Originally planning on just getting a coffee, we quickly changed our minds after seeing the counter filled with large portions of bacon and egg pie, scones, and muffins. One of the things I really appreciated was the spacious tables that were well spread out throughout the cafe, providing a comfortable dining experience without feeling crowded. The waitresses were friendly and attentive, greeting us with warm smiles as we entered. We enjoyed the baked potato with cheese, crisps, salad, coleslaw, and chutney for under £8, as well as the tomato soup and hearty prawn sandwich. I would like to thank the staff for making our visit so enjoyable. The ploughman’s platter also looked very enticing, so I will definitely be returning one day!
