Tried Fish Chips and peas, large portion and very tasty, others in our party equally impressed with food Whilst I wouldn't describe it as cheap it was good value. Would definitely recommend.
We experienced this restaurant with the Sunday lunch Carvery . It was an experience that we won’t be rushing back to waste our money on again. Should you be the person who enjoys all your vegetables smelling and tasting like over boiled cabbage then it could be recommended but otherwise I suggest that you give it a miss for Sunday lunch.
We've eaten here a few times and while it isn't brilliant, the location is close to us so its convenient, they have a kids menu and can cope with large numbers. Our latest visit has to be the last though: the service wasn't very good but the food was really pretty dire. The Sweet and Sour Pork (or whatever they call it) was a particular low point: small portions which was just as well as it tasted like a poor quality frozen ready meal. I'm sure we paid £12 or £15 for that so its not cheap either. We ordered 11 different dishes: all apart from the Cod and Chips were really quite poor. Prices have increased now so its harder to forgive a bad experience when other places can get it right. I like supporting local businesses but can no longer subject my friends and family to this.
Went for lunch for the first time today, , my wife ordered Cantonese Pork, I ordered Cod and Chips and Mushy Peas. When the food arrived we both noticed it was served on cold plates, my wife said hers was tasty but it was very much like a poor quality Supermarket frozen meal, when cod and chips arrived it looked reasonable accept for the chips which looked greasy and disgusting and were luke warm, I tasted the chips some were uncooked in the middle and near black on the outside, I took my plate back to the server who spoke to a member of the kitchen staff who told me it was the potatoes that were the problem and offered to cook me a fresh batch, the fish was returned to me on a cold plate and by this time the fish was also luke warm, the server brought another portion of chips of the same standard as the first batch greasy and dark in colour, I spoke to the server who said they would refund my meal which they did. Is it so difficult to cook fish and chips, Mckays of Eyemouth always, Cross Inn always spot on perfect. We would not return, give this place a miss much better places for fish and chips in Berwick and the surrounding area
My family visited this restaurant a few weeks ago and we had a great experience. Although the menu had a variety of options, there were only 4 main courses available along with burgers, wraps, and sizzling dishes. Unfortunately, the chicken curry we ordered was disappointing and tasted like it was store-bought. The fish bites I ordered for my daughter were too large, with more batter than fish. The staff, however, were friendly and attentive, and the presence of a play area for kids was a nice touch. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience despite some drawbacks.
