Central location for all, great eating, excellent chips guacamole and salsa. friendly service. in a shopping center
We had reservations about 6 and the table was ready. When I sat down on the floor, I was so sticky that my feet, where I stick to the floor. I had to let someone come and break the floor. when we ordered, it took almost 40 minutes to get our food, and the waiter was very slow to get our refills on drinks.
I checked in with server and he walked away to get the host without saying anything. We stood there not knowing if we should wait or follow him. Food, this visit, too salty.
My family had high expectations for Chevys, as we regularly frequented the one on Ventura in Encino that closed a few years ago. This place seemed to share only two things in common with that restaurant: the name and the free piece of tortilla dough they'll give you to play with if you ask. I ordered mahi-mahi tacos and the only thing I found edible was the tortilla, the veggies inside the taco and the scoop of corn cake. The fish was dry and chewy, the rice was salty and the black vegetarian beans were soupy and tasted like the chef had spilled half a container of cumin in them. I'm by no means a gourmet--this was just really disappointing. However, I'm giving the place two stars because my family liked most of what was on their plates--burritos--so maybe I just made a really poor menu choice. (No excuse for that fish, tho! The wait staff was friendly and polite. The location is in the Northridge mall, so that could prove convenient for many, and the prices are very reasonable.
