Madeira's - Northampton

Came here for a birthday meal with friends and had my kids with me. We arrived at 7 and ordered as soon as we were able to. By 930 there was still no food and we were told it was on its way several times. The kids were very hungry and it was only when we said we would go elsewhere that they got the kids food out (it was only nuggets and chips). We cancelled our own order at 10 as it was still no where in sight and we couldn't be given a time. We had been one of the first to arrive in an empty restaurant and other tables and come in much much later, ordered and had their food and were leaving by the time we left. It's appalling really. Half the party had some sort of food arrive before we left but the others we found out were waiting up to another hour after we left for their food. As we left the restaurant we found they were still serving takeaway orders throughout this which just baffled us if you can't keep up with the people you already have there

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. The staff are so friendly and the menu is great as well. We will definitely be visiting again

I dined at this restaurant on 17/11/21 with my wife and had a delicious meal. We enjoyed 2 courses of Portuguese cuisine that brought back memories of our holidays. The atmosphere was quiet, likely because we ate early, but a few other diners arrived after us. The staff were very friendly, with even the owner coming over to speak with us and asking if we had enjoyed our meal.

The food is great, but don't expect anything too fancy. Good old fashioned Portuguese menu. The only issue is, service is very slow and the food took a long time to come out. But we can forgive that because the atmosphere and food is so good.

Much like the last review, we arrived at 7pm and left at 9.30 without having our main meal. It took 30 minutes just to place a drinks order so we decided to order everything at once, as we could see how stretched they were. The drinks and simple starters arrived for about 8pm. At 8.50 the waiter said ‘two minutes’ and then again at 9.10. We decided to bail out at 9.30. Clearly not enough staff and badly organised. A shame as it’s meant to be a lovely place. However, be honest with your customers and don’t give misleading times manage expectations!!
