The ambiance is nice especially after a tiring round of shopping in Yorkdale Shopping Centre since it's within the mall. Their drink menu is better than their food which is nice. Our server was very polite and attentive as well. I would go back!
Came here with my boyfriend on a late Friday night to celebrate my birthday. Surprisingly, this place is not packed and we got seated right away. I love the venue, it has a rustic English Italian feel with a modern twist. The front area has extremely high ceilings with big windows. If you're lucky enough to be seated in the front area, you'll be able to watch the sunset.
Delicious meal. Ingredients are Fresh, fresh and fresh! <br/ <br/ Tomato bruschetta to start perfection. <br/ Genaro's Tagliatelle Bolognese for the main freshest pasta I have ever had in North America and the closest to I have tasted since I was last in Italy. Orange Blossom polenta cake light and tasty. Cappuccino real deal! It seems the menu changes a lot which is great. <br/ <br/ The menu is well thought out with incredibly clever choices for wine. Highly recommend the Sauvignon Blanc, Ca'Bembo 2015 Friuli Italy unique taste of Italian wine with some real depth.<br/ <br/ One thing I did notice was that the food came out pretty fast with a bit more thought I realised that maybe due to its location it is catering to shoppers who need a quick hit of food before going on their way. <br/
2016/11/21<br/ I have mixed feelings about our experience at Jamie's Italian. We were celebrating a Birthday, SWMBO is a Jamie Oliver fan, and I really wanted it to be a very nice dinner. We had made reservations for a Monday evening, but probably didn't need to, given how busy it was. However if you try to make reservations for a weekend, you have to make them many weeks in advance for abnormal dinner time. I had tried for weekend times before for a couple of other occasions. <br/ <br/ We started out with drinks. I asked if they had any cider and was told that they did. A few minutes later our server came back and said it had been available during the summer, but was no longer available. Strike 1. <br/ <br/ Then we ordered an appetizer that we would share. We thought the Spicy Meatball Bruschetta looked interesting. Sorry, but that was not available. Strike 2. Instead we chose the Deep Fried Ravioli. Nice little bites with ricotta inside, and a crispy pasta exterior, dusted with a little bit of cayenne (I think) for a touch of heat, along with a tangy marinara sauce on the side for dipping. <br/ <br/ For our main dishes, SWMBO chose the Gennaro's Tagliatelle Bolognese. A hearty beef and pork sauce a generous pile of pasta. No complaints. I selected the Fresh Crab Spaghetti. It tasted good and was properly cooked, but for $22.95 I thought it was a bit light on the featured crab; maybe a heaping teaspoon full. <br/ <br/ Then it was on to dessert, which we were going to share. We chose the Epic Chocolate Brownie. Sorry we don't have that tonight. Strike 3. Instead we chose the Tiramisu, which was a very nice second choice. <br/ <br/ Our server was very pleasant during our service, and seemed genuinely sorry that we were choosing things that were not available. It was not her fault of course, but it did detract from the experience. <br/ <br/ When the dust had settled the total tab for two of us was $90. Given what we had, I think it was a bit pricey. Would I go back? Not sure at this point.
Sure the pre-split arancini $8.50) was a little strange, but it did remind us that these risotto balls were stuffed with molten mozzarella and to proceed with caution. The crispy rice nuggets were hot and crispy, the creamy risotto inside not overly seasoned so the spicy arrabbiata marinara allowed to shine. <br/ <br/ Although the polenta chips $6.95) are marketed as a “side”, they also make for a great starter and nibbling on. The nuggets of silky polenta arrive with a crackling crust and topped with tons of rosemary and parmigiano reggiano. It’s salty and hot, just one more piece. <br/ <br/ Remembering that Jamie’s pasta was good just the accompany fingernail sized clams a dismal disappointment), I opted for their famous prawn linguine $19.95 for main-sized portion). I can see why this is one of their top selling dishes: the fair-sized
