Nova Era Bakery - North York Industiral

I had a take out coffee and half a dozen custard tarts. The tarts were amazing. Subtle vanilla flavor, not that chemical vanilla flavor you get in most places. A beautiful crisp crunch to the shell when I bit into it. The coffee was so good that I carried on drinking it during my drive long after it was stone cold. The atmosphere was very welcoming and reminded me of many bakeries and coffee shops in Europe that are the cornerstone of their neighborhood. Finally, and best of all, was the service. The young lady who served us was very chatty and knowledgeable about their products and worked with my wife to meet her very specific needs. All in all a great experience after a nightmare driving around roadworks and heavy traffic.

Good for the basics , I wouldn't order a cake from here ever again though.

The baked food is pretty good, better than most bakeries and usually fresh. Unfortunately the employees behind the hot food/coffee section are consistently slacking. They seem not to care about making a quality drink or sandwich. They don't care enough to make proper drinks and are always burning the milk while the sandwiches are rushed and decent at best. This is probably a result of the employees not loving their job or just not caring enough about the customer experience. As a kid I always loved the ambiance and It feels as if things have changed since after the pandemic for whatever reason. Since I live close I will eventually give them another chance but for now I will definitely be going to much better cafes/bakeries near by.

Bun was not fresh, it was crumbling up, it must have been there for a while. ??
