Three flavors of Tofutti (soy-based nondairy ice cream) chocolate, vanilla, and their unmistakable classic vanilla almond bark. Topped with nuts and fruit, absolutely delicious. You really need a sweet tooth to enjoy it--more sugar than I'm used to eating nowadays! But still great fun to be able to eat it a such a unique place. The waffle bowl with 3 flavors is definitely enough to share with someone.
On the day that we went, there were several vegan Italian ice flavors and one flavor of vegan ice cream vanilla. One flavor doesn't sound like much, but the really cool thing is they have a vegan menu with some gourmet cones waffle bowls, and a nice selection of vegan toppings! The ice cream itself was delicious not too sweet with a nice vanilla flavor. It was a bit on the soft side so it wouldn't stay securely on the cone and they gave me a plate spoon. I don't know if they make it there or buy it, but it reminded me a lot of So Delicious soy based vegan ice cream. If you order the vegan ice cream, they give you an individually wrapped plastic spoon, so you know for sure that there was no dairy cross contamination. But the really cool unique thing is the atmosphere: it's decorated in a 1950s/60s theme and the booths in the main room look like classic cars. The 2 side rooms are decorated like a 50s diner. Every inch of wall space is covered with vintage 50s 60s posters and photos, including many signed by celebrities. Shelves hold tons of collectibles like vintage toys and memorabilia. Yes, that's a Beatles Halloween mask, a vintage record player, classic Barbie dolls, an antique phone booth, and a mannequin dressed like Lucille Ball. If you're just going for the ice cream, other places have better vegan ice cream with more flavors to choose from (yes, Cookman Creamery in Asbury Park). But Cool Scoops is just so much fun and still one of the few places in NJ to get a vegan ice cream with loads of vegan toppings. I'm so glad that we went! We will definitely be back!
Great dairy free options! super creamy. extremely nice staff who seem to care greatly to help support your diary free choices from ice cream to toppings. has a special list of vegan toppings. during summer has 3 or so flavors of dairy free, in non summer just vanilla which is still great and plenty of toppings.
What a great concept, vegan sunflowers! very sweet and tasty! we spluged and got the gf chocolate chip cookie bowls, but really appreciate the options!
Such a cool place with *delicious* vegan options!! lots of vegan toppings and cones! at the time that I went there's only one vegan ice cream option which is vanilla and it's so yummy and creamy!! I highly recommend! such an awesome experience, the atmosphere in this 50s themed diner is breath taking!!!
