It was cold and cloudy on a mid summer day and we stumbled upon this BBQ shack at the top of the mountain! We had the quarter BBQ chicken and an Alpine burger and beers. The chicken was so tender and tasty and the burger had a smoky flavor. Open seating out on the deck was an added bonus....especially if it was sunny
On a hot day on Grouse mountain next to the Lumberjack show is a great wee restaurant with great views ,a small menu but fast service and friendly staff we settled for the pulled pork and a cool beer quite busy but plenty of tables . We watched the cyclists coming down from the Observatory and we could see the lumberjack on top of his pole a great stop for a bite to eat and refreshment
We're locals tempted to ride up to listen to some Blues and try the barbecue on a hot Monday evening. Luckily we both have local passes so the ride up is included in our annual membership. It's such a great location to spend a warm summer evening - on a deck where you can choose to be in the sun or under the shade of an umbrella. It wasn't busy so once we figured out that there were no table menus (on a board to the left of the bar) and no-one was going to come to our table to serve us, we put our food orders in and I ordered a tasty local bottled beer, my friend a "hard" lemonade. My salmon burger was good (a salmon filet with usual toppings) and came with a side of baked beans and potato salad. My friend's 1/4 chicken was also good with the same sides, although we decided we'd bring our own cutlery next time! Plastic really doesn't do the job when you need to cut something. The entertainer was great, playing some standard Blues and some of his own compositions which I found quite funny at times - it's great how the Blues can be that way! There were families present with one young boy (8 ish) who was really grooving to the music - way to go! All around a great way to spend a warm evening on the local hill. The only downside, which no-one can really control, were the bugs which came out in droves at sundown leading to a crowd of Grouse 'wavers' who may seem to be waving at you when they are in fact just trying to keep the bugs from entering their mouths and noses!
Located at the top of Grouse Mountain is this excellent outdoor BBQ pub. They offered a good range of finger food and burgers as well as an extensive beer and wine list. We both had a Heineken to go with a salmon burger and a BBQ chicken burger. This was no dirty hamburger because this was a proper salmon fillet and chicken fillet with red onion, lettuce and a side of baked beans and potato salad. They were actually excellent quality meals which was a pleasant surprise at an isolated tourist site.
