Checked out Busan Daeji Gukbap for a Sunday lunch. They have a second location out in Coquitlam. There was only one waitress running the front so it took awhile to get our order in. Banchan kimchi, cubed radish, braised potato and pickled onion. Nothing stood out but decent fare. We were able to get a refill of everything. Tteok boki $16.99) okay but there wasn't much substance to this dish. Wish it came with some rice. Sundubu $17.99) we opted for the seafood good amount of mussels) and spice level 3. Broth was flavourful. Dolsot bibimbap $17.99) rice came out sizzling and crisped up perfectly. Good balance of flavours.Better than expected Korean eats at BDG but it doesn't beat Maru Korean Bistro in North Van.
We were looking for a place to grab lunch after a hike and settled on Busan Daeji Gukbap. They're located next to Vaades The Indian Restaurant. They also have a second location out in Coquitlam. We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon around 12:45pm). There was only one waitress running the front so it took awhile to get our order in. The menu is large with meal, combo, BBQ, special dishes, hot pot and chicken aka. KFC) options. Prices are on the higher end. Banchan kimchi, cubed radish, braised potato and pickled onion. Nothing stood out but decent fare. We were able to get a refill of everything. Tteok boki $16.99) okay but there wasn't much substance to this dish. Wish it came with some rice. Didn't think it was worth the price point. Sundubu $17.99) we opted for the seafood good amount of mussels) and spice level 3. Broth was flavourful and there was a slight blimp of heat that came through. Dolsot bibimbap $17.99) rice came out sizzling and crisped up perfectly. Good balance of flavours. Better than expected Korean eats at BDG but it doesn't beat Maru Korean Bistro in North Van.
Some of the best soup I've had (speaking about the pork bone soup), and I've been to all the Korean restaurants as far east as maple ridge and west as... well, here. Easily top 3.
Won’t recommend this restaurant at all, the way that they put mandatory 15% tips in your bill and ask you to pay for it…. I can accept if you do providing good service but then tips is still up to the customers and not you forcing to put in the bill…. Especially they add 15% tips after taxes…. It is unacceptable and will never go back again
