Parthenon Pizzeria

This is a wonderful restaurant with friendly service and a diverse menu. Everything I've tried has been excellent. There's a lovely family atmosphere here. I particularly enjoy the gyros, and I also ordered a pizza to take out, which was fantastic! The Parthenon became one of my go-to places for takeout during the more challenging times of the pandemic.

We were seated in a booth, which was great for our son with ASD, as it helped keep him from wandering. The ambiance was lively without being overwhelmingly loud, so he was comfortable throughout our meal. Toward the end, he did move to an empty table across from us, which was perfectly fine. Both kids ordered cheese ravioli from the kids' menu, and the portion sizes were impressively larger than what we typically receive in Brooklyn for triple the price. Plus, drinks and a side were included! They were priced at about $5 or $6 each—just for that kids' menu alone, I would return. Our son also ordered mashed potatoes, which he finished in no time. Our daughter opted out of a side, so I chose a sweet potato for myself, and it tasted like dessert. We were also served a basket of warm bread, which I know I should have avoided, but I couldn't resist—I ended up having three rolls! Vegan Mom ordered the angel hair primavera with marinara sauce for $13, which included a side salad. The portion was enormous—about the size of a basketball—topped with the largest zucchini pieces I've ever seen. I'm usually a big eater and can polish off everything on my plate, but I could only manage to eat half of the pasta. I do wish they offered whole wheat pasta as a choice since I had to go with white. All the portion sizes at this restaurant are gigantic! Even our kids couldn’t help but chuckle when the plates arrived at our table. The service was outstanding; our waitress checked in and I honestly told her the portions were "voluminous!" My husband ordered pork parmesan with coleslaw, but he couldn't finish it either, despite being a person who typically cleans his plate. He commented on how incredible the dish was, even though he doesn’t eat pork anymore, and noted that the pork bone resembled a giant protractor. Usually, my husband orders mozzarella sticks at Italian restaurants, but the waitress recommended trying the mozzarella balls, a house special. Our son absolutely loved them. When the bill came, I was pleasantly surprised—it was under $72 for all four of us, including a glass of wine for me, which was desperately needed after our long day at Six Flags. What an incredible deal!

One of my favorite places in Agawam. The management always looks after us, and the food is consistently excellent.

The restaurant was recommended by my friend's mother, but unfortunately, it's set to close just next week. What a shame!

The owners are wonderful, the staff is friendly, and the large portions are delicious, no matter what you choose from the menu.
