I ran a few errands in the food business and returned about 20 minutes later. Then I had to wait another 20 minutes while my wife and kids waited in the car. Eventually, the staff member at the reception realized she had lost track of my order. She then went back to fetch a cold garlic finger and a pizza, which I suspect had been sitting out for quite a while. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, making this experience even more frustrating.
I dined there twice, and the food was just mediocre. I thought maybe the third time would be a charm, but it wasn’t! I waited for 10 minutes, and no one came to my table. I ended up leaving. UPDATE: This was when it was still Alexander's restaurant, so my review isn't available anymore since Alexander's has closed in North Sydney.
The second time I ordered was just as disappointing. I was born and raised in Cape Breton, so when I say I love pizza, I mean I really love Cape Breton-style pizza and its various forms. This time, both my wife and I tried what we call a pizza flip here on the north side (or calzone, as it's known elsewhere). We were extremely disappointed with its size. Many local places have amazing flips that are both tasty and sizable, but this one was exceptionally small and just okay. It might be enough for a 12-year-old, but for a grown adult, it felt like just a snack. Overall, I was really let down by the entire experience and don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again. Best, Shaun MacKinnon
