Helen's Jad Grill - North Kansas City

Okay, this place is a dive and a little cultural shock, but good mourning the barbecue is great and the service is friendly and covered. Only a place to slow down, eat a good bar comfort food and drink.

No surprises here.... I like Helen's quite a bit. They have a good selection of liquor (at one time they even carried St.-Germain. Their food is, I think, better than standard bar food. The menu is definately not lacking in variety, from fried appetizers, a goats cheese salad, pizzas, burgers and sandwich selections. The homemade french fries are worth a stop! More than that, everytime I stop there, I always comment that the employees are genuinely nice. The young man that cooked my food actually made a trip over to ask me how I liked it and Becky our Saturday night bartender is always friendly and just a nice person. Saying that seems silly because those seem like very simple things, but not always what one gets. Sometimes the simple things done well are much better than trendy things done half-way.

This restaurant on the mountain is excellent! The service is friendly and the drinks are poured generously. It may be considered a dive bar, but it is clean. The fries were also very tasty - they seemed freshly cut and somehow still crispy. Highly recommended.

After hearing about all the top burger joints in and around Kansas City, JAD was always at the top of my list. And for good reason - they serve up a delicious burger and amazing fries. While I can't say it's the absolute best in KC, I still give it a solid four out of five. My favorite burger in the area has to be Jim's Fat Burger. But if you find yourself at the JAD bar, definitely treat yourself to a tasty burger and fries.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of beers to choose from. They serve the best burgers and fries in Northtown (most likely north of the river). Additionally, the staff is exceptional. Highly recommend.
