Salt Lick doesn't have individual entrees like most restaurants, but it has sharable home style platters; you can order platters with 3, 4, or 5 meats with 2 sides from a chalk board menu with pork, beef, and chicken dishes. The number of each item is proportional to the number of guests at the table. We tried the pork belly tacos, the beef brisket, Korean short ribs, and the southern fried chicken and it was amazing. The service was great too. It is a BBQ experience that everyone should try.
I really enjoyed this place. the choices of different meats and the way it was served along with the craft beer options made this a wonderful foodie experience. Can't wait to get back here.
Wanted to find a new spot to try for dads birthday dinner. This place was perfect. It was busy but not so noisy that my 72 year old father had problems hearing our conversation. Nice and casual, but trendy and fun. Food was amazing. We had brisket, ribs and crispy chicken. Sides were mac n cheese (a must)! Biscuits, and baked beans. Yum! Service was excellent and good selection of local beers. It gets a bit smokey with the BBQ of course, so wear something breathable and easy to wash if u end up with a bit of BBQ smell on you. Lol. Can't say enough good things though. A real winner!
This restaurant was recommended by family members who had been there on a previous occasion so we decided to take the picturesque drive into Hamilton to try something different from the more formal restaurants. We were a family gathering of 12 persons and a baby so we were advised to order the food in advance, which we did. The menu options were adequate, but don't expect serious diversity here. Since our gathering comprised adults and kids we opted to take a few meats (lamb, southern fried chicken, pork belly), mac and cheese with bacon bits, grilled salad and corn bread. While the restaurant is pretty easy to find, parking is not easy. The restaurant does not have a car park so you have to circle around the connecting streets to find one. Don't take any chances as the parking police are on top of their game. The restaurant itself is not very big and can seat around 35-40 persons. The ambiance is quaint and the interior decor is rustic. The table we reserved was ready, and the food took about 25-30 minutes to get to the table...so if they are busy...be warned. Our pre-order was slightly mixed up and they did not have everything we requested. The food itself was not bland but not the tastiest you would experience. The portions are large so consider this carefully when ordering. The service was mediocre as there were two persons waiting on the entire restaurant. At least they were polite. The prices overall were not excessive, although there were a couple of items on the menu that could raise an eyebrow or two.Overall I would rate the experience as average...if you are looking for something different late during the week then I would go for it. Weekends and holidays when things get busy could make for tough parking, long waits and not so great service.
