Went to the Whistle Stop Café in Norlina on a Tuesday night a few weeks back. Food is good and everything seemed to go OK. Went this Friday Sep. 5 and it was terrible. Took 15 minutes to get waited on and 30 minutes to get our drinks after we had to go up and ask for them. Service was terrible. Seems as when you enter and go to the right side you can get waited on faster. Waiters are all over the place rather than each having there own sections to wait on. As for food they never have the same things each night so if you are looking for your favorite dish from previous visits you had better call ahead. They need more help and better management. Maybe they need to call Restaurant Impossible and get some tips.
Although the atmosphere is cozy and the server very sweet, the spaghetti was a bit acidy for us. What bothered me, though, was she began vacuuming with a super loud vacuum around 3pm. We couldn't hear each other when we wanted to talk. Sometime we will give it another try. Maybe they just vacuum around 3pm. We will go earlier or later.
The best home cooking around. Food is delicious and service is outstanding.
My favorite restaurant, good old fashion home cooking, and healthy too, use only canola oil and just know how to please every palate. Tuesday special Chicken, special prepared the night before, oh yes, like any great good you may and if stress may get a dry piece of chicken, however, white meat sometimes is that way. Overall they cook fresh and natural. If you have to wait it is because they are very very busy because they are GOOD. And please remember tip, these servers work very hard. God Bless
