Metcalfes Restaurant - NORFOLK ISLAND

Loved this restaurant for evening dinning, beautiful food and very friendly staff with a nice atmosphere, was very clean.

Book dinner night time meal easy to pick plenty to choose from must pre book . had seat overlooking valley . very little wait time. servided with a smile .most helpful when we had trouble finding our way around.

This comfortable and welcoming restaurant in the South Pacific resort is spacious and houses a quite spectacular, huge model of Captain Cook's historically famous ship, The Endeavour. During our weeks visit on Norfolk Island we breakfasted in this restaurant every morning. It has a choice of a continental breakfast or fully cooked choice of eggs, sausages and baked beans, Big Breakfast, pancakes or Eggs Benedict. Nothing is a hassle for Wendy and Hannah who work tirelessly in the restaurant to ensure you are comfortable and have everything you need, exactly when you need it. Thank you both for your assistance to make our days start off so wonderfully.We had a steak dinner here on our first night. A main course was about $30, entrees $15 and desert $10. Lunches are served in this restaurant as well and cost about half this with a main about $15.00.While breakfasts were good we did not choose this dining room again for our evening meal. There was nothing to complain about with the service (which is at all times exceptional) and the steaks were cooked exactly the way we asked, I do think the cooking and the presentation was mediocre. Breakfasting here is good but when the dinner price is on par with all other restaurants on the island it might be worth booking elsewhere for your dinner.

I ate here when I first came to Norfolk Island and did not rate the food at all. However, since I returned in May, they have a new chef and what a difference!!! The lunch time food is nice, with a lot of meals $10 - $15. The chicken Panini is very good and the Singaporean satay skewers are very nice. As they give you plenty of cold water, you will want to try these. The staff are also very friendly which is so nice.

Part of the South Pacific resort, Medcalfes restaurant is a typical motel-type restaurant. The food, service and value-for money average, the décor dated. However, Medcalfes is on par with most other Norfolk Island venues.
