Cave Portuguesa - Nordrhein-Westfalen

When I first discovered this little gem I was enchanted. The ambience, the cold meats and cheese would complement the wine. Unfortunately the service lets it down. The last time I was there I had just shared a large portion of cold meats and cheese...and asked for a little extra. I was refused; I found the service unfriendly and unhelpful. I was looking forward to the coffee but for some reason this had left a bad taste in the mouth. I said that I thought this was a bad service and I am sure in Portugal they would be much friendlier. They did not even try to explain, be helpful or anything, just a total indifference. It is a shame as I tend to find the service in Dusseldorf restaurants very good. I thought perhaps it was just a bad day, however when I explained the service to my friends they also said they had similar bad experience with the staff. Pity, I travel to Düsseldorf times a year and always looked forward to a visit. Looks like it is time to find pastures new. Change the service; cater for the customers and not the staff and I will come back.

We had an hour to kill before meeting with friends for dinner and went in for a tapas treat, and treat we got with a decent Portuguese wine.
