Salmon Sashimi (php350) at Tendon Akimitsu, Japan Town in Top of the Glo. Nice place, striking decor. Accommodating staff. Complimentary house tea.
Their tempura is the best i 've had in my life. Previously, it was tendon kohaku, but 30% of that was the gimmick with their sauce. For Tendon Akimitsu, their raw tempura IS AMAZING WITHOUT GIMMICK. PERFECT CRUST THICKNESS TO PROVIDE BEST CRUNCH POSSIVLE WITHOUT MESSING WITH FLAVOR OF THE CONTENTS (it complements it, even. It 's also rare for a tempura place to actuallly serve amazing squid tempura because those are usually too rubbery and the tempura coating can only feel like a coating. Tendon Akimitsu creatively solves this problem by chopping the squid into smaller pieces and meshing them together to form a larger tempura where the batter does not simple coat the squid it holds the pieced together, making for a great balance of texture; also, chopping the squid into smaller bits makes it easier to cook and soften. Amazing
Needs to improve service. Took almost an hour for our food to arrive
Went to the new japan town on top of glorietta. Got hooked with Tendon akimitsu tokyo's resto look. We tried their 5star graded mixed tendon set and it is indeed good. There were only 2 ebi tempura though and the rice is not japanese rice. It is sticky wet which i did not expect. Miso soup is also ok. The price is alittle high, but it is okay if they claim that they are indeed awarded and they also mentioned that this recipe has been passed down to 3rd or 4th generation. Their tuna salmon with cream cheese maki is really good as well... service is fast and staff are friendly. Overall it is a great experience. Just didnt like the type of rice used.
