We ordered 2 glasses of wine and as I know this particular wine/producer I thought immediately that there can be something wrong with the wine. I also realised that the wine was so cold that I could not say for sure. We waited but we did not drink it. As the wine was getting a bit warmer I was sure it is either ruined or not the same wine. We asked the waiter because I wanted to know if it is a different vintage that I have not tasted before. She was very rude right in the beginning. She brought us an empty bottle saying we had that and there is no way it could be ruined. I kindly asked if she tasted it but she said none of the customers complained and then she left. Then there came this even more arrogant man and my friend explained to him the same and he threw us out. He took the wine glasses and said aurevoir! Yes he kicked us out. Other customers around us were also very surprised that what has happened! I also have an education on wine and it’s my passion for over 20 years. It looked to me they want to sell bulk to tourists and when asked they really don’t know about their wines. They don’t even taste them, it’s the customer who does and how many customers realise there is something wrong? Otherwise I don’t understand why they did not taste it? Anyway they were really arrogant and shouting to us even we were just kindly asking about the wine.
Lovely food and wine, lovely authentic bar. Staff were very friendly and helpful explaining and describing the wine
If you want a simple plat du jour, beautifully cooked, at lunchtime, this is the place. The local people come here. They know where are the quality is. This is also a wine merchant so wines by the glass are excellent.
Sharing a large bench table with a group of french guys, we were all laughing at our attempts to translate of food with our limited language until the waitress put us out of our misery with her impeccable english! A family run business with the daughters a barrel of laughs! The wine selection is very impressive, though with help we selected a bottle of local red from the region which was stunning. The food is fresh, and inviting! The basil comes as a plant and you pick the leaves as you need, cannot get any fresher! All the patrons seem to be having fun, laughter all around and an fun place to be! Finished off with a local digestive, again a delight. A must to visit if in Nice, a ball to be had!
Started out as a wine shop (still is) then branched out into one plat du jour and then went on from there. Immensely popular with local people (tourists might well feel marginal), it is the sort of establishment where you earn your place and then become one of the family. A changing "special" every day: some of which may not appeal to non-Nicoise tastes and you certainly won't find a pizza. Their lasagne is the best I've ever eaten.
