The waiting staff was professional and attentive, but unfortunately, that was the only highlight of our experience. The sandwiches were mediocre (including a bland and not very fresh croissant), but the scones were warm and tasty and the tea was decent. Our accompanying strawberry gel and banana bread-like dessert were disappointing in both taste and portion size. The lemon-meringue tart was the worst we've ever had. On a positive note, we were offered a decent macaroon. Despite understanding that the hospitality industry has suffered due to the pandemic, we were still disappointed by the quality of the food at this establishment. It did not meet our expectations for a place like the Prince of Wales.
Very attentive waitress (Victoria). The setting is most attractive. Unfortunately the food was sparse in quantity, and only of average taste/quality.
My boyfriend and I visited the tea room last week during our trip to Niagara Falls. We decided to try it out as we had never been before. Our server, Jodi, was friendly at first and took our order promptly. The food arrived quickly and we enjoyed everything we were served. However, halfway through our meal, Jodi began to act more irritably and was less polite. We overheard her complaining about customers and making insulting remarks about them while in the kitchen area. This made us uncomfortable and we felt nervous being served by her. While the food was great, we would hesitate to return due to the unprofessional behavior of our server. We may consider dining there again, but would definitely request a different server next time.
After hearing rave reviews about the expensive afternoon tea at this restaurant, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The service was good and the staff worked hard, but the food fell short. The dining room was charming, but the food left much to be desired. The sandwiches were bland and stale, lacking traditional flavors. The avocado toast, although delicious, was not a traditional option. The smoked salmon sandwich lacked key ingredients, and the scones were dry and tasteless. Overall, the experience was a letdown, especially considering the price. I hope the restaurant can make some simple improvements to their menu so that I can return one day with my daughter.
You are going for a dining experience at a luxury property, so you expect to be acknowledged upon arrival at the restaurant for your reservation. The ladies at the hostess stand continued to chat among themselves and didn’t acknowledge us until they felt it...was time. We literally stood in front of them for a minimum of minutes, and a line started to form behind us. The experience starts at per person. Each person gets their own pot of tea, and they bring out a tiered tray of sandwiches and pastries. The only outstanding item was the scone each). The second notable item was the peach cake. Everything else was less than stellar. Including the service. If you can’t get just the scones for take out, next time I would pick up the take out box and just add extra scones. I wouldn’t go back even for the experience. The room was beautifully decorated with pink Christmas decorations.
