Gibb's Farm - Ngorongoro

This is a wonderfully managed, property. Nick Cooper, the manager, (I tried to hire him : , is everywhere and nowhere so you feel the touch of perfection and professionalism with the liberty to wonder around the beautiful property with no management in your face at all times. Special, professional, helpful, safe. Would go back now!

After 10 days in tents Gibb’s Farm was so very nice. The managers are the best and will chat with you anytime, service was nice and attentive. I am a bilateral amputee so the walk ways were handled with forearm crutches. We were still on safari and didn’t get to enjoy all the Farm has to offer. We could easily spend days there taking it all in.

A few places ooze serenity, tranquility and peace like this one does. Everything at the farm seems thoughtful and intentional. From the room decor to the food on your plate. The cottages are each individually decorated with their own theme. We were in the marriage room which had a great history behind it. The food comes straight from the farm and cooked to perfection!. Even the morning coffee we had was grown, roasted and brewed at the farm. Everywhere you look at this farm has its charm. The garden….. wow! Beautifully manicured with beautiful flowers, trees and wildlife. The pool was a little cold but nonetheless provided a good respite from the long safari we had just been on. They have a local artist resident who paints some mind blowing art. There is a gift shop on site which Sells beautiful handcrafted materials from key rings to baby rompers and dressing gowns. In the evening we were serenaded by baba Dingi and his crew at sundown and his songs still echo in our ears today. We had a private romantic dinner prepared for us with a romantic setting in the bedroom. There are several activities you can book from the reception including visiting the elephant caves, a tour of the farm, coffee roasting etc. The staff were all friendly and very professional. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway or a romantic honeymoon. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to be back.

We had a great time at Gibbs farm! Definitely not the place to stay for safari to the crater 2 hour drive) but a wonderful place to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy a beautiful environment. I would strongly recommend staying here after a few days of long safari to relax! Rooms were very nice and the staff was phenomenal.

The shower in my bathroom was in the wide open middle of the room. The water splashed everywhere, and I could not contain the splatter to the shower area only. The hats hanging in the room are to be used only while I am staying there, and the hats are for sale in the gift shop. Does that mean the hats hanging in the room have been worn by other guests before? Yikes! For the prices the place charge for the stay, why not just give them to the guests? So I tried to buy some stuff in the shop, and no cash was accepted. Credit cards only. I try not to use a credit card when I am traveling because I have had an bad experience of getting the card number stolen and the card being frozen while I am unable to receive a new card! The furnitures in the room looks like they need to be replaced or reupholstered. Palau (or traditional local pilaf) served in the dining room is not real Palau. I ate it, but all of my Tanzanian friends and I agree that Palau here was not prepared the usual way. The place looks picturesque and tranquil, but for the price tag, that is expected, at least. I would have not given 3 stars if I did not get the spa treatments from Christine, an Iraqi, and Nester, a Masai warrior. They provided much needed therapy after 8 days in the safari, on the bumpy dirt road all day in Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and the highlands. I was in much better prepared to fly back in a 20 hour plane ride. Acenti, Christine and Nester!
