I had initially looked for nice places to go on our vacation on Bornholm for my birthday here on HappyCow, but the best options seemed to not quite have opened again yet for COVID. Luckily my mother stumbled across a tourist magazine on the ferry that had an article about vegan food on the island! Among many other places they mentioned that Restaurant Molen would prepare a vegan menu if you ordered a bit in advance. It was really impressive, they make a custom menu on demand, so the only downside is that you can 't quite know what you 're getting beforehand, and the extra dishes that came with the wine menu turned out to be 5 extra dishes making it a total of 9 which was quite something, and every single dish including a butter alternative for their delicious home-baked bread had a super satisfying, well thought out vegan version, and different wine pairings when applicable too. I felt super well cared for as a vegan, also very impressed that they had even prepared vegan versions for the 5 extra dishes with the wine pairing even though they didn 't know in advance if we were getting that (also our driver who couldn 't take the wine pairing for obvious reasons was still given all the extra dishes without us even asking, or paying for that which was really nice). It was really impressive, they make a custom menu on request, so the only drawback is that you 't quite know what you're always up to, and the additional dishes that came with the wine menu turned out that 5 additional dishes make it a total of 9 what was quite something, and each individual dish including a butter alternative for their delicious home baked bread had a super satisfying, well thought-out vegan version, if applicable also different wines. I felt super well maintained as vegan, also very impressed that they had even prepared vegan versions for the 5 extra dishes with the wine pairing, although they know in advance when we got that (even our driver who could not take the wine pairing for obvious reasons, was still all extra dishes without us even asking, or paying for what was really nice).
