They were great. So while it seemed a scandal to be only coffee and biscuits in an Italian restaurant, it was certainly a pleasant experience. the coffee was good, the service friendly and efficient and these cookies. mmmmmm.
We arrived prior to opening at 5 pm. Once in, we were greeted by the owner and friendly waitress. We all decided on pasta. When we asked the waitress, she said, all of our pastas are wonderful .And, she was right. We started with some garlic...bread as we were starving. 5 of us ordered 4 different pasta dishes and they were all outstanding. Pasta was al dente, as we like it. Prices were reasonable. Mid teens for the pasta ... and large servings. Great news as I mentioned, we were quite hungry. Service was outstanding. I saw many people coming in for just coffee. So, I suspect that is also a feature of theirs.
We 've been to Macaroni a number of times previously, both for breakfast and dinner, and the food and service has been great. This visit saw 4 of us on a Saturday night, restaurant relatively quiet at 8:00pm with a number of empty tables. We were...taking our new neighbours to Macaroni for dinner to show them the strip that is Enmore Road. As always, the food was delicious but the service was terrible. As mentioned it was pretty quiet, the Enmore Theatre crowd had gone in but it was a good 5 minute wait before I had to go up and ask for wine glasses. They were brought to the table but when asked for water, only 3 glasses arrived as they were low on glasses . Wash some maybe? Fail. After ordering breads for entree, they were brought to the table and left there. We waited for plates, and I again had to get up to ask for them. Fail. Ordering mains was interesting. Asking what the specials were, the waiter had to go and ask what was in a particular sauce. Sure, it was his first night but hospitality 1-0-1 is know your specials! He came back, told us and it was ordered. However it arrived in a not mentioned cream sauce with prawns. Lucky no seafood allergy here! Fail. Mains arrived, no cutlery or napkins on the table. Had to ask for them. Fail. It was a pretty hot evening so we drank a lot of water. Not once did they replenish the bottle. Too busy talking amongst themselves and not watching the floor to see what their paying customers needed. I eventually got up and got it myself. Fail. At roughly 9:30, chairs were being placed on tables as the floor was being swept around us. Fail. Overall, the dining experience at Macaroni was extremely disappointing. The food is delicious, particularly the lambs fry for breakfast, but they really need to pick up their service if they want to survive on Enmore Road. Far too many restaurants open and close in a short space of time and I 'd hate to see Macaroni close down due to poor training of their wait staff.
This place is fantastic! The pastas are delicious but they also do other dishes such as fish, meat and vegetarian options. Their breakfast is fantastic too, i really enjoy coming here The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend!
At this place a year ago the midday had nil problems and the eating was good. ends again havinh dinner recently and was dissapointed. the cook was not an organization, the cook had to ask the waiters what was going on and they had no warning. the food came out and was under average with the risitto to bring a sloppy sauce with a handful of rice. if you want a beautiful pasta and decent service, go to the pastizzi caffe on the street.
