My wife and I actually laughed, our waiter seemed so bothered by us asking for anything (had to, since he never checked in . So, I’ll average it out to 3. We’d go back I just wouldn’t stay if we had the same server (everyone else was super nice busser hostess, etc.
Our waitress was awful. I've never had a server that clearly didn't want to be at work but this was evident the moment she took out orders. Then it took 40 mins for the food to come out after ordering. I even had to get up from the table to go find her to ask if they forgot about our order because she never once came over to let us know it was going to take longer than normal etc as servers always do. This was for Mothers Day brunch with my mom and MIL. When I asked her when the food would be out it's been 40 mins or so all she did was say the kitchen was backed up. No simple apology or smile or anything. Then the food did come out and it was pathetic. I could have easily made the spring salad... simple lettuce with not much else and added grilled chicken for an extra $9 or so. It was fine because it's how I make salad at home... it just doesn't cost me $40 to make a very simple salad with grilled chicken and ONE glass of Chardonnay. That's all I had and it was $42 with a 20 percent tip per person with zero service and we were then late to my sons soccer game that my MIL drove an hour and half to come see after our Mother's Day brunch. I would never go back here. Overall it was a three star experience not because of the restaurant but because of the location in Newton Center and the amazing weather that day.
Farmstead Table is a must. Make reservations! We had a party of 3. The food is spectacular and so is the staff. Our server, Sergio, was fantastic! The popovers and local jam are light and airy. We also had the chicken sandwich, which was crispy, juicy, and not overdressed. The shankshuka is pure comfort in a bowl. Perfectly cooked eggs and delicious broth with broccolini. We also had the Farmers Plate Brunch. Another winner! We will definitely be back!
The apps, drinks, entree and atmosphere were very good. We had the Crispy Brussels Sprouts Tacos, New pasta dish, Steelhead Trout, Queen's Paradise, Fox's Wedding, Gin Jam, and Garden Party. We will eat here again need to try the Mushroom Board.
My family raves about the popovers and the mussles and they did not disappoint! Loved the savory sauce they were served in. Weekends are packed, so reservations are recommended.
