The opportunity to dine here where the first US Open happened is quite an experience. Unfortunately, while the food was delightful and the atmosphere pleasant, the service was not up to par. The food took a very long time to come out, and then it was a nearly equally long wait to get a check. It did not seem to me that the place was too busy in the back, so perhaps there was a staffing shortage; regardless, we were definitely not completely satisfied with the experience just due to that.
The Stuffies (baked stuffed clams with Chorizo) are the best ever.Summertime bartender was a riot
We started with the clam corn fritters, which were rubbery and Bruschetta dip, which was delicious. For mains we had the Baked Cod, Fish n Chips and the Penne Pasta, all tasted good. The fish was fresh. The Strawberry lemonade was okay. While the food was okay the service was very slow. Everything took long taking the order, bringing out the food, bringing us the bill. The place was fairly empty but they could have been short staffed since it was the 4th of July.
I had chicken Bellevue with asparagus. Best dish I have eaten in a year. Wish we lived closer so I could eat this weekly. Sat in bar area. Good atmosphere! (I cannot eat gluten or shellfish)
