Harpoon Larry's Oyster - Newport News

My first stop after landing from California on work travel. It was $1 oyster Monday! Local ones were good actually. I only got 6 as it was 7pm and they ran out. Crab cakes were BOMB! I had to order a second, and got them blackened. Also got a side of fried oysters and those were even better! Good service at the bar and the ambiance was fun- people came for the seafood and it didn't disappoint

We dropped in with a party of 5, later in the afternoon. Service was outstanding and super friendly. The food was 100% on target. Three Po-Boys, sauteed scallops, stuffed mushrooms, and a big seafood variety plate. Also a perfectly served glass of whiskey. About $35 a person plus a generous and well earned tip.

My boyfriend randomly wanted oysters so this was the closest place that was open and that allows dogs in their outdoor seating. Did not disappoint! Super cute local place with friendly service and great oysters! We also went on Monday so it was discounted or they do have special days!

Being from out of town I wasn't sure of the location but it actually was a great experience and I would definitely return. Service (Danielle) was great and they are willing to make any adjustments to menu items. Food is delicious. We started with calamari that would definitely rival any restaurant. I had Maui tacos but substituted grilled shrimp and it was on point. My mom had she crab stuffed flounder that she said was pretty good but the crab was sweeter than her liking. She said the flounder was delicious. We both had seasonal veggies that were delicious. If you're looking to try something new and local this is a perfect stop. The atmosphere is fun and laid back.

Harpoon Larry's has successfully created a space that feels both casual and welcoming, making it perfect for anything from a family dinner to a fun night out with friends. With a diverse menu that ranges from classic seafood options to innovative dishes, there's something to please every palate. Even though I've been there several times, each visit feels new, thanks to the restaurant's dedication to quality and service. The only downside might be the limited parking during busy times, but that's a small issue compared to the culinary delights that await inside.
