Shanghai Pine Gardens - Newport Beach

The taste of the food was almost reminiscent of Mandarin cuisine, but the customer service could definitely be more welcoming. They have potential to improve, especially since their wok-fried rice has great heat. However, they were quite stingy with the ingredients and seasoning. The customer service really needs a revamp. Additionally, something in the food caused me to develop a bad cough, and I had to make a trip to Rite Aid for some immune support. Overall, I was not satisfied with my experience.

A fantastic restaurant! I particularly enjoyed the cord bean lunch; it was both generous in portion and delicious.

We absolutely love this restaurant and often make the drive from San Bernardino just to enjoy their Chinese food. The service has typically been quite good, though there was one instance where the server was a bit rude. I can understand her frustration, given the number of entitled customers who often come in expecting immediate service, even checking in the kitchen just five minutes after placing their orders. That said, the food is fantastic, and we will definitely continue to return!

I've been eating at Shanghai Pine Gardens for many years and it always takes you on a first class ticket to flavor town! I especially love the bay duck special! So fresh!
