Mama Leone's - Newport

The place is buried. with construction of demolition containers on the parking lot. obviously closed. I am not from here and visit nc. it could be closed to be only renovated.

Unhappy. many years ago I lived in newport and ate many miraculous meals from this restorer, after 20 years I returned and rejoiced on mamas spinat cake. what I got was a sub par pizza w spinat. the owner( assured me that it was the cake that I remembered, to my contempt, it was nothing like the spinach cake I remember. that was a light crust, beautifully spiced spannakoiipita like clazone w spinat and some cheese. this was karton crust with cheese oovered and some spinat totally lacks spicy or taste. I'm totally disappointed. I will like to remember the meal I once enjoyed, but will never return

A right on passage for newport sailors. When I went to navy ocs and other schools in the 1980s, I must have eaten at least 30 times at mama leone today I couldn't tell them what I had, but it always seemed to meet and was always a bargain. Now that I think of it, the veal parmigiana sub was my favorite.

I was somehow worried about what I would get after the guy on the phone was aloof and rude, but my (buffalo huhn) pizza came and it was delicious. I'd have it back in the final. add artichokes, it's amazing!

The toppings were fine although chared to dust. But the crust was just meh. Like pazzzzz on making it from scratch. Not semolina flour more like bleached all purpose. The pie was ok just not the pizza I was looking for.
