John Macs - Newcastle

I had heard that this was the best spot in Newcastle for fish and chips, and it did not disappoint! Be sure to arrive hungry, as the portions are incredibly generous. The cod was the most delicious I’ve had in a long time, and the chips were fantastic as well. The side of pepper sauce really elevated the meal. I’m still feeling satisfied and happy about it two weeks later!

We always dine at John Mac's in Newcastle when we're in our caravan, as we look forward to their delicious chips. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed during our visit on Monday afternoon. The chips were a dark brown and seemed overcooked, with hard bits that could have hurt someone’s mouth. It was not the quality of chips we had come to expect, which was truly disappointing.

This place is really the best fish chip shop in northern Ireland! fortunately we drive 45 minutes to newcastle, just for their take-out fish chips lol. everything is freshly cooked to order, decent portions, high quality food and nice staff. her menu board is extensive and there is no terrible after taste of overused cooking oil etc. we bring our visitors here to enjoy a takeaway fisher on a bank on the promenade and the compliments are always good! we always try other places, but nothing comes near john Macs
